Acadian Driveaway Travel Covid-19 Update

At Acadian Driveaway our employees, customers, and communities we live in and travel through have always been our top priority, and our commitment to you has only increased during this period of uncertainty. Due to the new regulations, requirements, and restrictions along with the NEW US TRAVEL ORDER, that will Acadian Driveaway Travel Covid-19 Updatebe in place as of January 26th, 2021, we do anticipate this Travel Order will delay our travel / drivers to and from US destinations. 

For travel / moves within Canada, we will be required to register our drivers prior to entering certain provinces as outlined below, which are deemed the “Atlantic Bubble”.

  • New Brunswick: Requires registration from the province to enter and travel through the province. Must have travel letter, BOL and flight information to prove they (drivers) there is no intent in staying in the province.
  • Nova Scotia: Requires proof of essential status, travel letter, BOL and flight information to prove they are not staying. NO Government registration yet.
  • Newfoundland: Requires registration from the Province to travel to, travel letter, BOL and flight information to prove no intent to stay.
  • PEI: Requires travel letter, BOL and flight information to prove no intent of staying. 

Based on these requirements and order, you can rest assured that we are working tirelessly every day to ensure the continuity of our services and the safety of our employees, customers, and communities.

We have implemented guidelines and protection measures to ensure the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Self-isolation measures for employees / drivers that have been in proximity with people who may have been exposed or show symptoms or show symptoms themselves of COVID-19.

In addition, we are closely monitoring the situation and will do everything in our power to continually adapt our business processes, as necessary.

As the situation evolves so will our precautionary measures, some of which may seem inconvenient, but will be taken out of caution to keep us all safe. We will continue to communicate regularly and ask that you continue to do the same so we can continue to partner effectively with you as we get through this together.

COVID-19 Testing Required for U.S. Entry

Effective January 26, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require all air passengers entering the United States (including U.S.  citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure​, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding. ​Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.

However, everything we see today started somewhere in the past and the history of trucking in North America is an interesting lesson in how necessity is the mother of invention.

Well before Acadian Driveaway and the industry leading driveaway-long haul and driveaway local services we’ve been offering for 30 years, The Winton Motor Carriage Company of Cleveland introduced the very first transport trailer way back in 1896.

The Earliest Truck Transport

Alexander Winton, the CEO of the company, is generally credited by historians with developing the first semi-truck which he developed so he could deliver his manufactured vehicles without damaging them. It’s that same dedication to providing 100% customer service that enables us to serve clients across both Canada and the United States. Here’s What Our Bus and Truck Delivery Service and The Trans Canada Highway Have In Common.

Acadian Driveaway has been providing professional Toronto vehicle delivery services for the last thirty years plus and in that time we’ve seen some pretty impressive things. We’ve been from coast to coast here in Canada and down to the United States too, but one of the most impressive sites our 80-contracted drivers can all agree on is The Trans Canada Highway that’s right here at home.

 

We thought you might share our fascination with what’s still considered the world’s longest national highway so we put together some interesting facts we hope you’ll enjoy.

 

Did you know that the 1949 the Trans-Canada Highway Act was the result of the need for better roads between the cities and towns that was fuelled by a post WWII spike in both immigration and automobiles? Our forefathers saw how important it was going to be to join all the provinces together to make us feel like one country and they even built the Canso Causeway to join Cape Breton to the Nova Scotia mainland.

 

They were thinking and planning ahead. Just like us when we decided on the present location for our trucks delivery service close to Pearson International Airport with access to all of the major highways. We even have affiliate offices here and in America to better serve you.

 

As you might imagine, there was a lot of work that needed to be done to build the stretch of The Trans Canada Highway that passes through our province. In fact, there was a right of way that needed to be cleared in the name of progress straight through 98 miles of forest and an astounding 25 bridges to be built.  Even recent efforts to improve the Trans Canada Highway focus on a concept called twinning which puts two lanes going in opposite directions separated by a median.

 

This is just like the standards used for interstates in America. Of course, we are well versed with our client’s trucks delivery needs in Canada and the United States since we work equally well in both countries. Acadian Driveaway is all about making sure border crossings go smoothly and efficiently every time. To that end, we can help with the proper documentation and are even well known for working with brokers on both sides of the border to get the job done.

The folks working on the Trans Canada Highway are never finished looking for better ways to bring you an efficient travel service. We know how they feel because we’ve been around since 1987 moving vehicles on the roads they’ve built. Our simple motto We Take Care says it all about our attitude and the one we share with these Canadian pioneers.
